i CAN do dat!!!

i just wanted to write a blog about what's about to happen to me, for those who are interested. I'M GETTING A BIONIC HIP! k, not reeeeally, but as many of you know, i've struggled with leg/hip/joint/muscle pains for a couple of years. kinda came on suddenly, after i turned wrong and felt a charlie horse kinda deal in my hip area, but thot i'd be fine. the next day i was limping and it got worse, then better, then worse, better, worse, worserrrr. i couldn't/can't touch my toes, cross my legs, find a comfortable position to sleep in, run or stand for more than 20 minutes-ish. some days i literally could not walk. i've tried every kind of therapy you can name, taken pain killers and left many doctors/therapists stumped. one encouraging lady dr. told me i'd never get better, and proceeded to show me several yoga poses that she had recently learned. after each, rising-cross-eyed-dog, formation she'd say, "YOU can never do dat." (...and the BEST bed side manner award goes tooooo....) TRUE story. the pain has been constant and it hasn't been a fun couple of years, becoming this human blob of limitations.

fortunately, in the past year i was blessed with a job that gave me medical benefits! yay! long story short, i was diagnosed with severe osteoarthritis in my left hip (which, honestly, is their best GUESS) and was advised to replace my hip. crazy! i thot i'd be relieved when the surgeon gave me the green light, but as i listened to him actually telling me this was truly my best option, i was pretty crushed. i'm only 31! why meeeee? it was definitely hard not to think about all the things i WON'T be able to do after the surgery. what? i can't run? take LONG walks on the beach? jump? dance? dislocate what? no splits? well, there goes my dream of being a gymnast!!!! WAHHH! now that i'm a couple days away from getting this done, i'm feeling better. thank GOD! i've mourned my bad hip and i'm ready to be pain free again. that's going to be amazing, and what a blessing that i'm even able to get this done! it's going to be rough, for sure, but most great things don't come easy, right?

my surgery is bright and early (530AM) on fri morning so set your clocks to wake up and pray for me! HAHA! the procedure is about an hour and a half, then two nights recovering in the hospital. yuck! i hate hospitals! im making the best of it, tho, by bringing a cute pink robe and fuzzy slipper socks with ladybugs and monkeys on them, to keep me company. my recovery could take as short as 3 weeks to 3 months. i'm hoping i'll be on the lesser curve of that! i'm kinda looking forward to watching a ton of movies, hopefully reading some books (when i'm not all drugged up)and spending some time planning the rest of my year with, my company, MOTIVES! (here's a sneek peek at a photo shoot i did last weekend. so fun!)

the future is bright! :)

feel free to txt or msg me my amigos! i love fruit, movies, magazines, snacks, lobster...be a saint and do something nice for a wounded blonde mexican, kaaaay? ;)

i appreciate you all and your well wishes and prayers! xo

TWO WEEKS WITH NO SHOWER!

HELLO! :)

It's been awhile since my last blog, but I wanted to make sure I had things to write about. I don't want a boring blog that talks about political debates or what I eat everyday...but since we're on the topic of food, I'll be honest and say that I HAVE my received my juicer and HAVE NOT yet taken it out of the box! UGH sooo bad. Buying fruits and veggies is expensive tho! Sorry! I haven't been able to fund my juice transformation! :( Soon tho. In the meantime, I will be eating Taco Bell (IN MODERATION) and practicing physical therapy moves that I'll need to know after my surgery.

Speaking of surgery (this is flowing so well) I had an appointment for an educational class that was all about what to expect after hip surgery. Recovery time, exercises, pain management, how to use a walker properly, shower safety, "COMMODE" safety...EXCELLENT! Saying commode is so much worse than saying toilet. Anyway, the class was full of people with wheelchairs and hearing aids. I felt a little out of place. One lady kept talking about her "friend" who's really good at imitating a handrail, if she needs one. Later, she talked about how she has no friends but she does know some kids who will pull a hundred dollar bill out of your ass. I hope I don't end up in the same recovery room with that lady. VERY interesting class. I left the class feeling overwhelmed and less anxious to get it over with! The recovery will be more painful, have more restrictions and extensive healing time than I thought. I'm not supposed to shower for TWO WEEKS afterward! UH UH! That ain't happenin!!! I'm already thinking of a cellophane and duct tape wrap that will keep my bandage and stitches dry. IT WILL WORK! I'll need a lot of help taking care of myself which I will pretty much HATE. *Deep breath* I'll be ok. I know. This surgery is not something I'm looking forward to but it will be worth it...I hope.

The GOOD news is, I did a BOUDOIR shoot last weekend and it was FANTASTIC! So much fun and just a pleasure to see women feeling beautiful and proud of their bodies! LOVED it! Each girl started out so modest and shy but by the end they were throwing their bras off and rolling in bedsheets! Ok, not exactly like that, but the end of each session always had a more confident woman in front of the camera, and it was WONDERFUL to be a part of! My hip and back were KILLING me that night and next day but it was totally worth it! We're planning another shoot in June and I hope we get a big turnout with some excited clients! Here are a couple of my faves! Makeup and hair done by yours truly (HAPPILY EVER GLAMOUR)!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

My first blog of the year! Where to starrrrt? Well, I just recently joined a company called Market America, selling a cosmetics line called Motives! It's a very successful company and the product is superb! I'm very excited about this opportunity and the chance to become financially independent! I have to be a millionaire before I die! PLEASE GOD! I realize it's going to be a lot of work and I'm sure I will give up and eat a whole pizza a few times...BUT i will NOT fail! This new work plan (doing on location hair and makeup and pairing it with sales) is a great combo for me with plenty of variety! I like that.

In other news, I will be embarking on a juicing diet for a week later this month. I ordered my juicer and it should be arriving any day! I'm looking forward to the benefits of having more fruits and vegetables in my diet, but I am NOT looking forward to the adjustment that I will surely suffer through. I've heard that headaches, fatigue and lots of "cleansing" time in the bathroom is what I have to look forward to, at least for the first few days. After that tho, I SHOULD have lots of energy, clear skin and some weight loss! We'll see how I do. With my hip arthritis, it's been almost impossible to exercise doing things I enjoy. I've gained a ton of weight as a result and REALLY need to get control of it! I'm not going to juice forever but I wanted to start with a "clean slate", so to speak. I LOVE food but I have to remember it is a short commitment and it's for my health! My hip replacement surgery is in February and I'm absolutely looking forward to being able to exercise again, and not be so worried about every single chili dog I eat! Haha! Just kidding. (No I'm not.)

Upcoming events: BOUDOIR shoot with photographer Samantha Salas! Can't wait! And I'm sure I'll be doing a Motives party/workshop before the month ends! :)
